Kecap can be used as an ingredient and cooking sauce or a condiment. Before, it was spelled as Ketjap. The three popular types are Kecap Manis which is a sweetened soy sauce, Kecap Manis Sedang which is a medium sweet soy sauce and Kecap Asin which is a salty soy sauce and resembles the chinese soy sauce. This is an essential sauce in Indonesian pantry.
