What is Ikan Bakar? Ikan bakar is a very popular barbecued fish is one of the classic Indonesian dishes of charcoal-grilled fish. This dish is best served with warm plain rice , cucumber, and sambal badjak or sambal terasi. This fried fish can also be wrapped and grilled in banana leaf so that the skin will not stick to the grill.

- Ikan Bakar Ingredients
- 1 whole fish, cleaned
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
- 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
- 25 g margarine
Marinate the fish
- 3 candlenuts
- 3 shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
Ikan Bakar Preparation:
Clean the fish and make cutlets around it.
Pour the lime juice over it to reduce the fishy smell.
Blend or grind all marinate ingredients. Then use it to marinate the fish. Set aside for at least 1 hour.
When it is absorbed enough, grill the fish and brush it with the leftover marinate
When the fish is about to be ready, brush with sweet soy sauce and margarine.
Continue grilling until it’s cooked.
