Pecel Lele Recipe
What is Pecel lele? Pacel lele is a deep fried catfish dish commonly found in Jakarta, Indonesia. This dish is served with steamed rice, fried tempeh and red or green traditional sambal chili paste or with complimentary coffee chili paste and veggies. This is simple delight affordable to all, which may be why it’s a standout across Jakarta.
Serves 2-3
Cook time: 45 min, Prep time: 15 min
Pacel lele Ingredients:
- 4 catfishes
- Cooking Oil
- 1 tablespoon coriander
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 cm turmeric
- ½ tblsp salt
- 2 tomatoes (cut 4 pieces)
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 6 basil leaf
- Lettuce
- 5 big red peppers fruits (fried)
- 10 pieces of cayenne pepper (fried)
- 2 tomatoes (fried)
- 4 cloves garlic (fried)
- 2 spring onions (fried)
- 4 pieces of hazelnut (fried)
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
Pecel lele preparation:

Clean and remove essentials and gills of the catfish

Heat the catfish and fry over medium heat up until a little dry and prepared

Mix all sauce ingredients in a mortar, crushed.

Spread the crushed ingredients over the catfish once fried.
